Balkan Ceremony Customs

The Ottomans are no different, and when it comes to their wedding customs, they have some very fascinating ones. This article will discuss some of these distinctive Balkan wedding customs that might be worthwhile upholding and honoring.

Weddings are typically seen as an occasion to celebrate adore, a couple getting married, and starting over. They were a special occasion that brought up two families and an entire society in the past, though, and they were much more than that. They were therefore a crucial part of our lives because of that.

When the bride and groom were formally engaged, the marriage procedures may begin. For the family individuals, they and their friends may spend months sewing and embroidering clothing, clothes, and towels. Additionally, they made unique decorations for the church. The bride-to-be and her associates had browse each household whose associates were expected to attend the wedding meeting during the majority of the dental offers.

There were certain superstitions that had to be followed when it was day for the wife to provide the couple’s house. For instance, in some Bulgarian regions, it was customary for godparents to suspend a particular flag at the couple’s home after thoroughly discarding it to protect the newlyweds from bad secret and evil influences. The flag was sewn with red or green threads and hung from the groom.

There might also be additional superstitions, depending on the area. For instance, in Montenegro, the honeymooners were required to move over a carpet that had been covered in knife because this was supposed to guarantee that they would have guys. Additionally, it was common practice in Kosovo for the wife to lick mister off of her mother-in-law’s hand. This was intended to keep the two’s ties calm and guarantee their happiness and prosperity.

There would be a lot of dance and wild entertaining following the civil and religious festival. Individuals enjoyed sipping rakia to savor the happiness of marriage. And even though weddings these days are more about the handful than the celebration and drinking, they are however a happy occasion for everyone who attends.
